We are really excited about this year’s Furry Faces contest, said Leona Sheddan, executive director of JHS. As more people keep track of their schedules on smartphones and PDAs, they are moving away from traditional, paper calendars. Many of our donors have requested that we follow this trend, so we have decided to move our contest to an electronic format. We will now feature the 12 winning photos monthly on our Web site. This new contest format also gives us the chance to go green by utilizing less paper.”

Public voting begins Monday, Nov. 9, 2009. Votes cost $1 per entry with a minimum of $10 for online and credit card votes. Votes may be submitted here on this site, or via regular mail with a cash or check. Voting concludes Dec. 17, 2009. The winners will be announced on Dec. 21, 2009.
Eligibility. Subject to the additional restrictions below, the Baby of the Year Contest is open to residents of the United States of America, 18 years or older at the time of entry. Employees of The Star Press, Voss Center for Women, and each of their respective affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees, are not eligible to enter or to win.
Contest Period: Contest period begins at 12:01 a.m. (E.D.T) Monday, August 24, 2009 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (E.D.T.) Friday, November 6, 2009.
How to Enter. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. E.D.T. Monday, August 24, 2009, and ending at 11:59 p.m. E.D.T. Friday, September 25, 2009, the “Entry Period” enter by submitting a completed Entry Form, a photo of your baby and a suggested $10 donation to The Star Press Children’s Charities, Inc. cash, check, money order, or credit card. Entries may be submitted by a parent, legal guardian or adult who is 18 years or older at the time of submission. Children must have been born on or after 1/01/06. Sponsor reserves the right to verify proof of age. Multiple births twins, triplets, etc. can be entered as one “baby photo” entry if all the children are in one photo. Entries with incomplete or incorrect information will not be accepted. Parent/guardian information will be verified by phone. Photos will not be posted until information is verified. Submitting this information, the photo and an entry form serves as a release for The Star Press to use your child’s first name, first initial of last name and photo in The Star Press and on its web site. Photo should be 2” wide or larger and digital photos should be in jpg or tif format and 240 dpi. Only one photo per child per entry. There will be no changes to the name or photo once they have been submitted. Parent’s name, phone number and baby’s name must be written on back of photo. Submitting this information, the photo and an entry form serves as a release for The Star Press Children’s Charities, Inc. and The Star Press to use your baby’s name and photo in The Star Press and on its web site. Checks for donation entry fee must be made payable to The Star Press Children’s Charities, Inc. All photos become property of The Star Press Children’s Charities, Inc., and will not be returned. Copyrighted photos must be accompanied by a photographer’s release.
