American Mathematics Contest 2010

The AMC 10 is a 25 question, 75 minute multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems which can be understood and solved with pre-calculus concepts. Calculators are not allowed starting in 2008. For the 2009-2010 school year there will be two dates on which the contest may be taken: Contest 10A on Tuesday , February 9, 2010 and Contest 10B on Wednesday , February 24, 2010. .

AMC 10/12 Registration for February 9, 2010 & February 24, 2010

The AMC 10/12 Informational Brochure (2010 version) will provide a simple overview of these two contests. Registration may be completed by mailing either (pdf versions) Registration Form A (for February 9, 2010) or Registration Form B (for the alternate date of February 24, 2010) available at this web site. Fees for each school wishing to register are as follows

Registration/Standard Shipping, contest A only through December 18 $40
Registration/Expedited (2 day) Shipping Dec. 19 – Jan. 22 $50
Registration/Overnight Shipping – Contest A Jan. 23 – Feb. 1 $60
– Contest B Jan. 23 – Feb. 19 $60

The main purpose of the AMC 10 is to spur interest in mathematics and to develop talent through the excitement of solving challenging problems in a timed multiple-choice format. The problems range from the very easy to the extremely difficult. Students who participate in the AMC 10 should find that most of the problems are challenging but within their grasp. The contest is intended for everyone from the average student at a typical school who enjoys mathematics to the very best student at the most special school.
