Quarterly Juried Art Contest Winter 2010

This visual artists’ contest, quarterly-based (winter, spring, summer and fall) is hosted and juried by professors and staff members of Sofia Art Academy and also some distinguished members of the local art communities. The purpose of these competitions is recognition and promotion of talented professional and rising artists.

There are two different age groups forms (Adult 18 and up. Children between 7 and 18) required for submission.

Deadline of the Contest
The final postmarked deadline is January 29, 2010. There will be no extension of the deadline, all entries must be postmarked by that date. Winners will be notified by February 28, 2010.

Entry Fee: There is a $35 non-refundable entry fee for each artist.

Awards:
Cash awards totaling: $1000.00
For winners not located in the DFW area:
Adult awards: 1st: $350. 2nd: $250. 3rd: $100
Children awards: 1st: $150. 2nd: $100. 3rd: $50

Bendigo Art Gallery

Bendigo Art Gallery is pleased to announce a new drawing prize for 2010. The Paul Guest Prize is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $10,000 which will be held every two years, highlighting contemporary drawing practice in Australia. The Prize was initiated by former Family Court Judge and Olympic rower, the Honourable Paul Guest QC and encourages artists from across Australia to engage with the important medium of drawing and to create challenging and unique art works.

Final delivery of artworks – 4pm Friday 6 August
Announcement and opening – Friday 13 August

Metro Gallery award

The Metro Gallery award, now in it’s eighth year, is Australia’s richest art award for emerging Australian artists. It has helped launched the careers of several past winners including Ben Quilty, Jackson Slattery and Sam Leach.

The Judges’ Choice Prize is $40,000.
